Something Wiiked This Way Comes

A new Nintendo Wii is on the horizon and its debut will be at this year's E3 conference. Over the past few months, Nintendo has found themselves threatened by the Xbox's Kinect system, which many say is the reason for the company to get a jump on the next gen market. It's still unclear as to what the new system's specs will be- most of which is rumor- but it is speculated that their decision is fueled by their attempt to keep their stronghold on casual gamers.
I really hope the new Nintendo features what many love about the Wii with an upgrade of features. I feel that anything too powerful will deviate away from what gamers from my generation still hold near and dear to their heart. Also, if Nintendo manages to continue with the innovation that captivated the world in 2006 then Nintendo will continue to be the household name that you and I have come to love.
The Wii has taken criticism from hardcore gamers for having a lack of online playability, but I believe that the Wii has that as an advantage. As a gamer, the times that I remember fondly are those when I am battling it out with my brother on a game of Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. Melee. On an Xbox or 360, I am limited to trash talk, but on a Nintendo Wii a painful defeat can be dealt with an actual fist fight. Really, what could be better than that?

  1. I heard that Wii Developers are thinking of making the remotes have touchscreens built in

  2. Yes, I heard that too. It's all speculation, but that's one of the more credible rumors.
