I honestly try to expand my tastes in music as much as possible. It’s hard though. I’ve been a huge fan of The Wu-Tang Clan for about five years now and because they’ve been making music as a group and through solo ventures for over fifteen years—some of them did a few solo bids before Enter the Wu-Tang- 36 Chambers was released—I always seem to find something new from them. I think, at this point, it’s only safe to consider them The Beatles of hip-hop.
That label makes this mash-up all the more appropriate. I really hope this does not suffer the same fate as The Grey Album, which was a mash-up of The Beatles’ White Album and Jay-Z’s Black Album. The album gained a lot of controversy back in 2004, because Danger Mouse did not gain permission to those tightly held Beatles songs.
I find this better than The Grey Album, though and I think that says a lot seeing as how the Grey Album was really done quite well. You’ll find that the Wu and Beatles compliment each other quite well and its a little less experimental than the Grey Album was. There are a couple of skits and rare recordings from Beatles Mania (Girls screaming and naming their favorite Beatle) and a few from the grimy days of the Wu-Tang Clan. My Favorite is the Ol’ Dirty Bastard singing Love Me Do. I strongly suggest you go download this right now before it suffers the fate of the Grey album and also because the best part is the twenty-seven song mixtape is FREE! You can download it here.
